Lavender OS™ is a completely new interface for the Macintosh. It's designed for the Mac OS (by Apple Computer, Inc http://www.apple.com/) and Kaleidoscope 2.0 (by Greg Landweber and Arlo Rose http://www.kaleidoscope.net/).
Very Complex Installation Instructions
-Mac OS
Double clic on the Lavender OS™ icon.
-Windows 95/98
Run the "install.exe" application. Be sure to have 150 Mb of free space on the hard disk, and follow on-screen instructions. Then restart ten times in a row, run the "setup.exe" application, upgrade to a Pentium II 666 Mhz, install 128 Mb of SDRAM. Once you get here, you won't need Lavender OS™ at all.
Inspiration Sources
This is what I wanted to do when I made the GeoLavender Color Scheme long time ago. I wanted a desktop like a big blue table with the interface objects beveled over the blue desktop. I thought this would be very human interface friendly, as well as cool and different. But Kaleidoscope 1.x features didn't let me do all I wanted to do. Now with Kaleidoscope 2.0 I did it. The window layout is inspired on the Be look, which is closer to the "folder metaphor" than Apple Platinum window layout.
Interface Enhancements
The complete interface is lavender blue colored. I like a lot the lavender blue, and I think it's soft for daily use. The interactive objects are beveled, all the other sections are plain. This is the most human interface friendly thing I can think of, so the elements you see are objects that do things. If you see it, it's usefull; if you don't see it, it's useless. Also I tried to make the window objects simple but powerfull, like the collapse box. If the window is not collapsed it points up, telling you that if you clic on it, the window will collapse up. And when the window is collapsed, it points down. Also the collapsed window lacks the Zoom box, why clicking on a collapsed window zoom box?
